what type of vehicle do you have, and what year? Im trying to do it on my 2005 chevy colorado, do you think this process will work?

  5. overated209 says:

    1. Close all the vehicle doors.
    2. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder – do not turn ignition switch.
    3. Press and hold the DOOR unlock switch (This is the switch on the door, NOT the remote).

  6. overated209 says:

    4. While holding the DOOR lock switch in the unlock position, cycle the ignition ON, OFF, ON, OFF ON, OFF. (3 TIMES)
    5. Release the DOOR unlock switch. The doors will lock and unlock one time to confirm the program mode is actuated. Remove the key from the ignition.
    6. Simultaneously press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button on one key less remote for approximately 15 seconds, the doors will lock and unlock to confirm the programming of that transmitter.

  7. overated209 says:

    7. Repeat the previous step to program up to four transmitters. Reprogram any existing remotes at this time as they have been erased.
    8. Turn the ignition switch to the ON (one more click forward) position in order to exit the keyless entry transmitter mode.
9.Operate the transmitter functions in order to verify correct system operation.

It’s my understanding that method works on 96, 97, 98 Chevy and GMC trucks and some other GM vehicles which use the controller shown in the video. Older ones don’t have the OBDII connector. Its a two button fob for two door trucks. Three button for crew cab. Look elswhere for older or newer models. This worked on my 97 Silverado. Pin 4 is ground. pin 8 is a spare connector used for the programmming function by GM. It’s use is not specified in the OBDII specification. Be careful not to connect to other pins. It can do bad things to the computer.

    Let the experts do it.

  19. My husband is going to program a remote for our daughter’s car simply because she either forgets to self lock her car, and when she does remember, she usually locks her keys in, since she’s so used to using our car with the remote alarm and lock/unlock feature.
